The FACTS on Child Nutrition…
- One out of every eight children skips breakfast and nine out of ten skip breakfast at least some mornings. Children who eat breakfast are more alert, perform better on tests, have better attendance in school, and are more likely to meet their nutritional needs.
- Seven out of ten children are not getting enough calcium, found in dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt.
- Eight out of ten chldren do not get enough vegetables
- Six out of ten children do not get enough fruit.
- Only one in four children get daily physical education in school
- Six out of ten children do not participate in any physical activity during non-school hours
Children should be encouraged to eat and play healthy
